Year 7 Take A Trip to Narnia!
As part of our reading and Library focus, a number of students in Year 7 were treated to a trip to Narnia on Tuesday 13 December, when they took part in a themed event linked to C.S. Lewis’s timeless story, ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.’ Forty students who have shown a steadfast and committed approach to reading this term were selected to join in a group reading event in the Library, complete with hot chocolate, candy canes and marshmallows. The Library created its very own wardrobe and a display featuring a sleigh, lamppost and Aslan, the lion. Students were given their own copy of the novel as a gift and were invited to a reading event, led by members of staff and student leaders from Year 10.
The second event on Thursday 15 December provided students with the opportunity to enjoy a cinema experience of ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,’ on the big screen, together with popcorn. The Library definitely created a special environment, with one student commenting that it ‘felt magic.’
Thank you to everyone who helped make the event successful and well done to the students who were invited for making such huge improvements with their reading! Keep it up!
Following on from this success, we are now planning future reading events, all of which will encourage the huge benefits of reading for pleasure and the habit of becoming lost within the pages of a book.
