World Book Day

To celebrate World Book Day Year 7, Year 8 and staff came to school dressed as a character from a book. A huge thank you to everyone who took part, you all looked amazing!
There was a buzz of excitement all week as classes from Year 7 and 8 took part in a Book Tasting Experience lead by Mrs Casey and Miss Evans in the library. The students got to ‘taste’ books from 5 different genres then select their favourite one to borrow. Many were surprised by how much they liked a genre that they would not have previously considered. Anyone who borrowed a book throughout the week was entered into a prize draw. The lucky winners, who got to choose a book to take home, were Adelin Mwami (7HEM), Aden Surtees (8NIR) and Chelsea Isaias (8MAR).
During registration, the whole school took part in a book character quiz with the winning form receiving chocolate to share. It was a three way tie with 92% correct for 11RYC, 8MAR and 9MTH.
At break and lunch students were invited to take part in a book hunt around the library. A character quiz of 12 questions gave the students the clues they needed to then search the library and find each book. On each book was a letter that cracked the winning code. The four lucky winners were Weronika Burzynska (7ROW), Muznah Ramadhan (7STL), Ysabela Posadras (8CAF) and Harry Stanley (8GAL). They all got to choose a book to take home as their prize.
Students also enjoyed alphabet character quizzes, word searches and colouring in. A special thank you to the Year 10’s who came along to support in the library.
