Orienteering trip to Temple Newsam
As part of the PE curriculum some students have the opportunity to study Orienteering within their Outdoor Adventurous Activities unit of work.
Over 5 weeks the students learnt orienteering skills such as understanding and using a key, orientating a map and learning about cardinal directions. In addition to these specific skills they developed their ability to make decisions, work as a team and solve problems. Each lesson worked towards their visit to Temple Newsam, where students had to complete an orienteering course using their map reading skills. It was vital that they worked together to navigate their team to various locations. All students were fantastic and showed how much they had learnt about Orienteering. Many of the students showed what great leaders they were by listening to each other and being supportive and encouraging towards their team mates.
Well done to all the students involved!
