Matilda – (MSM Show)
The start of March saw the culmination of months of hard work, as the curtains finally opened for our school production of Matilda.
With a cast of 84 students this really was our biggest performance yet! The students had spent over a hundred hours in rehearsals including weekends, after school and in the holidays. It is fair to say that their hard work truly paid off, starting with local primary schools on Tuesday afternoon, followed by three completely sold out shows, the students performed to an audience of over 1300 people in a week!
Feedback from the show can be seen below;
“The performances would not look out of place in the West End”.
“My children wouldn’t stop singing the songs all night”.
“Just wow, congratulations to the entire cast on an amazing production. I felt fully immersed in the songs and the chorus were phenomenal”.
We are so proud of our amazing cast, in particular Katelyn Taylor who took on the lead role of Matilda and is only in Year 9. Her performance was breathtaking and she showed a great level of maturity in her preparation for the role.
In addition to this we would like to give a final thank you to our Year 11 students. Your performances were incredible and the ten of you were amazing role models to our younger performers. We are sure with the talent and commitment you have shown you are going to go on and achieve great things in the world of Performing Arts!
Finally, Mr Flynn and Mr Bromwich would like to once again thank everybody who helped to make the show possible. The effort from staff across the whole school was unbelievable, from ticket sales to props, from set to costume, the jobs were endless and the staff rose to the occasion. As well as all the support with the show the staff also donated over £600 to support with costumes for our students so that they looked amazing on the night, showing the true spirit of Quid Retribuam.
The students may now have returned to their classrooms, but they do so having made memories that will last a lifetime. The performing arts family has grown in numbers and will be stronger than ever as the students eagerly await the announcement of next year’s show.
What will it be?
Wait and see…..
