LUF Go Ahead tournament

Students in Year 9 and Year 10 have been taking part in weekly sessions as part of the Go Ahead programme, run by Leeds United Foundation. As part of these sessions, they have been coached by a Leeds United coach and had the opportunity to develop their own coaching skills. To bring it all to a close, students were invited to a football tournament to compete against other schools involved in the programme.

On Monday 22nd May the girls team travelled to Crawshaw Academy. The team got off to a strong start by winning their first 2 games, one of which went to penalties, where goalkeeper Daniela helped the team win with her fantastic save. The team played 6 games against Co-op Academy, Morley B team, Boston Spa, Crofton Academy, Ruth Gorse and Prince Henry’s. Throughout the tournament the girls played some good football and remained strong in defence. Overall, the team came joint 3rd out of 10 teams.

Well done to all MSM players for their commitment to the programme and their performance in the most recent tournament.
