Year 8 & 9 Leeds Schools Invitational Netball tournament

Myself and ten Year 8 and 9 students went to The Grammar School at Leeds on Tuesday 14 March, to compete in the Leeds Schools Invitational Netball tournament.

We were in a group with Cardinal Heenan, Roundhay, Woodhouse Grove B and two GSAL teams (A and C).

The girls lost four of their five games and beat one of the GSAL teams in the last second of the match to finish fifth in the group!! As you can imagine they were absolutely over the moon at beating GSAL but took their win in good spirit, showing brilliant sportsmanship.

Throughout the two and half hours we were at GSAL I had three members of staff come over to me with the following comments:

“Your girls are a breath of fresh air, they are absolutely lovely”

“This was my favourite game of the day, your girls are fantastic” (Woodhouse Grove)

“It’s wonderful to see them so delighted at their win”

Finally, despite Abigail Gela not being happy with me playing her at Goal Keeper, the Woodhouse Grove netball teacher came over at the end of the game to praise her on her outstanding defending ability.
