Imperial College London Summer School

Hana, Sedona, Daniela and Rikaya were lucky enough to gain places at the STEM summer school at Imperial College London. Imperial College London is a renowned university specialising in STEM and boasts 14 Nobel Prize winners, including Sir Alexander Fleming, the discoverer of penicillin.

The days were full of lectures and students could choose between Science and Engineering. The Science students learned about mitosis and the Engineering students learnt about Civil Engineering. All the lectures were interactive with state-of-the-art equipment. Each group were mentored by a current student ambassador, who answered questions about university life. The students stayed in the student accommodation where they had their own bathroom. On one evening the girls were treated to a theatre experience at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, watching a Midsummer Night’s Dream. The students thoroughly enjoyed their experience and made life-long friends. They would all highly recommend this experience for the current Year 10.
