Year 9 at Careers in Construction NHS event,
Yorkshire Bank Chambers

Students from Year 9 attended a day, organised by Leeds General Infirmary, learning about jobs in construction.

Suppliers from around the country hosted workshops to give an insight into their roles for the new children’s hospital, which will cost £700 million pounds to build and has taken years to design.

The students worked in groups and took part in 6 different workshops throughout the day. One workshop, delivered by local Architect firm Arup, was about master planning and Perkins and Wills led a workshop about the interior design of the waiting rooms. Students had to use their problem solving and creative thinking to come up with new designs and ideas for the hospital.
