In May, students and staff were set a challenge that would support Miss Smith in her training, ahead of competing in the Ironman 70.3 Lahti, Finland. The Ironman 70.3 is a triathlon where participants have to swim 1.2 miles, cycle 56 miles and then run 13.1 miles. The challenge involved a physical and mental challenge for the students whereby they had 8 weeks to cover the distance of 70.3 miles, individually or as a team. They could choose to run, cycle or row during the challenge.
The students and staff involved have demonstrated resilience and commitment throughout May and June, attending training sessions and completing many miles in their own time. In addition, they have been raising money for St Gemma’s Hospice, with their current total just under £650.
A big well done to all those involved!
