Year 9 ASDAN Trip to York
The Year 9 ASDAN group were challenged to plan a trip to York that took in local history and culture by visiting museums or art galleries. The students planned the entire trip from start to finish, emailing teachers to book buses, making phone calls to museums to book tickets and completing their risk assessments.
During our trip we visited the York Chocolate Story attraction, learning all about York’s rich history of chocolatiers, although I think the tasting part was their favourite bit of the experience!
Next, we explored York’s gruesome history as we toured through York Dungeon, thankfully we managed to keep our heads in between the screams! As a little unplanned extra we managed to quickly step into York Minster as we passed by – our students were blown away by its sheer size and exquisite architecture.
Finally, we walked the city walls, learning about their construction through the years and appreciating the incredible views they afforded us of York itself. The trip was a huge success thanks to the meticulous and impressive planning completed by the students.
