Archie’s Retribuam Challenge

Over the summer holidays students were asked to consider how they could give back and commit to acts of Retribuam over the holidays. After learning of the plight of a young three year old boy called Archie from the Morley area, Year 10 were motivated to fundraise as much as they could to support his surgery to tackle a life threatening condition. Sadly, the surgery was unsuccessful, and Archie tragically lost his battle on 7^th November passing away peacefully in the arms of his parents.

Students in the year group should be incredibly proud as through their efforts they raised over £1400 to support the family in making Archie’s final months ones that they will cherish forever. From sponsored walks to bake sales, an amazing amount of money was raised. Two students in particular Lily Wigglesworth Year 10 and Ben Wigglesworth joining us in Year 7 raised over £1000 with their own bake sale event, ensuring the profile of Archie’s plight was raised in their Hunslet community.

The money was used for a range of experiences for Archie and his younger siblings, one of which was the purchase of a Haven caravan “Archie’s Caravan” that will be used to offer vital holidays to families of children fighting terminal illness, ensuring that his name lives on and other families are able to access much needed support at such a challenging time. The Mount St Mary’s community would like to send their deepest condolences to Archie’s family and please know that we hold you in our prayers.
